I’ve mentioned here that my father runs the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center (I usually refer to it as “his baby”). The museum added a new exhibit called Lives of Service: Celebrating the Heroes of September 11th. It’s a memorial to the Nassau County firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11. It includes showcases of personal items donated by the families of the victims as well as a rotunda featuring a tribute to each firefighter, telling a little bit about their lives.
It opens to the public this weekend but dad took us in to see it today. I’ll take a few more pictures Friday night after the memorial service.
The exhibit is beautiful and heartbreaking and humbling. If you’re local, I suggest going to check it out.
